How to Make Party Invitation CDs

Modern advances in technology provide alternative methods to using paper invitations for special events. Learn how to make party invitation CDs that allow you to be creative while providing extra details that may not fit on the typical 4 by 5 inch note card.

CD Cover Insert
Design a CD cover insert that displays your photo or party image on the front and an audio track listing on the back side. Inserts are square shaped cards that are usually placed inside the clear plastic shell covers on a CD case. You can hire a graphic designer to create this cover insert for a collection of party invitation CDs or assemble images and text on your own using photo editing software or applications that create music CDs. Some office supply stores sell CD insert sheets with templates that can be printed from a computer.

Party Information Tracks
Record separate audio tracks for your CD invitation. Each track should focus on one specific detail about your party such as the dress code, time, location and RSVP information. Write down all of the elements of your party invitation on a piece of paper to make sure that no relevant details about the event are left out of your CD. Organize these elements into separate tracks on a separate sheet of paper before recording them as audio tracks.

Decide on whether you will include one greeting track and a closing track on the party invitation CDs. Add these greeting and closing elements to the sheet of paper that contains the organized track listing, if they are necessary for your particular event. Visit a recording studio to get audio tracks made with the party information on them. You can either get the CD produced at the same recording studio or take the audio tracks home and create the invitations on your home computer using CD-R discs.

Party Invitation CD Packaging
Purchase CD cases in bulk to accommodate the number of invitations that you need to send to guests. These cases will likely not have to be purchased separately if the party invitations are being made by a recording studio. Add the CD-R discs and cover inserts to each case if you are making them at home. Place the CDs in gift wrapping that is addressed to each guest and distribute them in person or ship them by mail. You can also add shrink-wrap and price tags to each CD if admission prices are being charged for the party. Guests who "purchase" the invitation CD in advance can receive discounted admission, free drinks or other incentives.
