Procrastination is probably one of the biggest deterrents to weight loss. It is when you feel like you're tired and don't want to exercise but come to think of it, you can. It may sound ok to skip a day but sometimes, it may lead to further procrastination in the future delaying your program or even stopping it totally. Maintain your drive and keep your motivation in mind.
Even if you exercise every day, if you do not eat well, you most likely won't achieve the results that you are expecting. Diet is actually more or less half of the weight loss program. You need to provide your body energy by eating foods with the right nutrients. Fatty foods will just contribute to the weight you'll need to lose so try to remove or at least significantly minimize it. Ask a nutritionist or a personal trainer to help you out.
Time constraint is another major barrier to weight loss programs. We have work, we go to school, we are out of town, and we may be on a very long trip and so on. In this case, the best thing to do is to plan your time well. Just like when you separate your meals, why not separate your workouts? Spread them out throughout the day and make the most out of your extra 5 or 10 minutes. It may actually work.
Money can be one barrier to weight loss especially if you need a personal trainer, equipments and the food. I was having trouble with the diet since the plan given to me by the nutritionist almost a year ago consisted of different types of foods and they are expensive. The best way to go around this is to look for alternatives. Find the same, and cheaper, food with the same nutrients as the one advised to you then ask if it's ok. When it comes to the equipments, be resourceful. Use things that you can find at home as makeshift gym equipments.
Sometimes, there are things that we can't control such as natural disasters and sickness. For this we really have to no choice but to take a break from your program. When all is settled, you can go back to working out.
There may be more weight loss barriers out there that can halt your program or put you on a hiatus. Drive yourself to lose weight. Think of why you are doing it in the first place and who you are doing it for. And if you need help, do not hesitate to do so. And of course, do not forget to give yourself a break as well.
