How Pathetic is That?: Doctor Phil Plans His Own Surprise Party

Dr. Phil, best known for yelling at troubled married couples with his country accent (and his sweet mustache) didn't think anyone else could get his birthday right.

So what did he do? He threw himself one. The old doc turned 60 years old today on September 1st, 2010. Great, that means we share Virgo traits (and that is also a hint to get me a 25th birthday present, AC ;).)

The doctor, best known for getting popular by yelling at couples on Oprah Winfrey's talk show aspired and created his own television show. Now he counsels people with problems by telling them how wrong they are, and smiling at them under his mustache and shiny head.

Yet, suddenly there was a big hole where his show was supposed to come on TV that day. Dr. Phil reportedly even rehearsed acting surprised for his big 6-0. Granted he didn't want to wait for a family member or friend to do it, but the perfectionists traits that some Virgos share would include this type of behavior.

Born Phil McGraw in 1950, Dr. Phil received his Ph.D in clinical psychology in 1979 in Northern Texas, but is actually a native of Oklahoma.

In the late 90's to the early 00's is when Dr. Phil became popular with the American audience on The Oprah Winfrey show. In the start of 2002 is when he received his own show which has been broadcasting every since.

As pathetic, or degrading as it may sound (especially to those who actually despise the mad doctor) to throw your own surprise party, it could have actually just been a ploy for more ratings, to help viewers understand that he is certified as a Doctor and has the age and wisdom to prove it; Yet then again, perhaps the good old doctor just wanted to have a big celebration bash for his big old 6-0.

You have to admit, though, that for a 60 year old man Dr. Phil does look in pretty decent health. He's still out there churning out the TV show and yelling at his guests and viewers, but on his down time the Doc is enjoying time with his family and friends. His wife and two children most likely keep the man in check, and I'm sure they helped on at least a little bit of the hard work for his 60 year bash!
