How to Peel a Banana like a Monkey

Bridget Ilene Delaney
Most people peel a banana starting at the stem and pulling the peel down. Some people use fun ways to peel bananas such a playing "banana gun." However, it can always be difficult to open a banana. The peel is often stubborn. However, monkeys always make it look easy to peel bananas. This is because monkeys to not open bananas the same way most humans open bananas. If you want an easier way to open a banana, you probably want to be able to peel a banana like a monkey.

You will need the following:

A banana

Find the Bottom of the Banana

Start by finding the bottom of the banana. The bottom of the banana is the end that is on the opposite side of the stem.

Find the Bump on the Bottom of the Banana

There should be a small bump on the bottom of the banana. Find this bump. Make sure that you are able to hold the bump between your thumb and index finger or your thumb and middle finger.

Pinch the Bump

Now that you have found the bump, pinch it with your thumb and index finger your thumb and middle finger. The tip should split and some of the peel may also split.

Peel the Banana

Take two of the sides where the bump and perhaps part of the peel split so once side is held by each hand. Pull these sides down and the banana peel should not easily come off of the banana.

Remove the Odd Brown End

If you like the odd brown end on a banana, simply eat it. However, if you do not like the taste of the tip, cut it off and throw it away or possibly give it to a pet if it wants to eat that tip.

Now you know how to easily peel a banana and should not have to be concerned about having bananas with stubborn to remove peels.
