The first tip involves picking the right shade. There are many different burgundy hues on the market for one to choose from. Darker hues are great for those who are looking for a more dramatic look. If you are really looking to draw attention to your lips then choosing a darker burgundy will be your best option. For those who still want the elegance of burgundy lips but need a more conservative look should opt for a lighter color.
One should pay close attention to what other makeup colors they choose. If you are going to be wearing burgundy lipstick avoid very dark eyeshadow as it will take away attention from your new burgundy lips.
Next, apply it correctly. If you want a plumper look or have naturally thin lips first apply some lip-liner to the natural line of your lip line. This will give a pouty look and bring a fuller look to your mouth.
After you have applied the lip-liner you will want to apply the lipstick. Be sure to apply evenly to the bottom and top of your lips and avoid trying to make your lips look bigger or fuller by going outside of your natural lip line. This can be disastrous and make you look like a clown if you are not careful. You can apply straight from the stick or use a small brush. Some lipstick wearers swear by using a small brush to apply their lipstick but it really is a matter of personal preference. Some even use their fingers to apply their lipstick.
Once you have thoroughly applied your lipstick you can add some extra shine by adding some lip gloss of a similar shade. Lip gloss can fade very quickly so you will want to add it last if you are really looking for that shiny, glossy look.
For those who have yellow teeth and are worried that burgundy may not be the right color for them should look for a burgundy with blue undertones. This will make your teeth look naturally whiter.
Shoppers can find burgundy lipstick at most drug stores, cosmetic stores and even high end department stores. For a good quality burgundy lipstick one should expect to pay at least $10 otherwise they will find that it will fade or wear off quickly.
