The Perfect Homemade Italian Pizza
2 Rolls of Pillsbury Pizza Dough
1 16oz. package of 5 cheeses shredded
1 ½ cup of 4C Grated 100% Parmesan / Romano Cheeses
2 Hot, mild or sweet Italian Sausage
1 ½ cup of sliced Spanish onion
1 cup of Hunts or store brand spaghetti sauce
1. Pre-heat oven to 300 degrees, rinse off two whole Italian sausage links, and pat dry with paper towel. Add 1 tablespoon of cooking oil to shallow baking pan or tempered glass cookware, place Italian sausage in pan - rub cooking oil on both sides, immediately place in oven. During the cooking process - the Italian sausage will need to be cooked for 30 minutes, turn sausage four times so that meat will be evenly cooked.
2. Remove Italian sausage from pan, wrap sausage in paper towel to drain off excess grease, place aside until needed for pizza.
3. Remove Pillsbury pizza dough from refrigerator, break open containers, round out one dough as best as possible, add 1 ½ of the cheese on top of pizza dough. Roll out the second roll, place it on top of the already rolled out pizza dough.
4. Slice Italian sausage into medium to thin slices, add pizza sauce on top of dough, and sprinkle 5 cheeses evenly on top of pizza dough. Add sliced Italian sausage on top of pizza; make sure the Italian sausage is evenly spread throughout the pizza. Add Spanish onion and 4C parmesan and Romano cheese on top of pizza.
5. Pre-heat oven to 325 degrees, bottom rack should be moved up one notch so that pizza dough bakes evenly. Bake pizza for 30 minutes, oven time may vary slightly due to if it is a gas or electrical oven.
Serve Italian pizza immediately.
