How to Perform Traditional Meditation: Transcending the Mind and Body

This world is becoming a monotonous one, converting our life styles into a mechanical one. We have to work all the time to ensure a decent living. Many of them even lose their regular sleep. Proper metabolism depends on daily activities. If we don't have proper sleep, we don't just get stressed but also experience nervous weakness. This often leads to other mental disorders also. A recent survey suggests that most of the people in the age group of 18-45 suffer from sleep disorders. We could resort to medical treatment to cure these ailments. Traditional methods are also very effective. Meditation is not only a stress reliever but also helps in healing many physical problems. Meditation helps to maintain mental peace and I practise it regularly. It is really incredible and it must be experienced by one and all.

Meditation is very flexible and can be done by anyone. It could be done in any place. There are different types of meditation. I am going to talk about the most conventional method. The good news is that it can be done in various positions. The only criterion is that the person must feel relaxed and should not be under any kind of tension. Through the stages of meditation, the person must lose the consciousness of the body and mind. This is what is called as 'transcending the mind and the body'. It is proved that meditation can cure many diseases.

The explanation is based on the concept of cosmic energy and etheric body. The etheric body is a subtle body and is often imagined to be the body within us. There is abundant cosmic energy available in the cosmos. This is the energy needed by our etheric body for the daily activities. But this energy cannot be absorbed by our body always. We take in the cosmic energy during the sleep. But the magnitude of the energy taken in is very less. We can take in more amount of energy during meditation. This energy is used by us when we carry out the daily activities. During meditation we must have our mind in a very clear state. Mind chatter is a very bad habit that eats up our mind resources. This becomes one of the greatest hurdles to meditation. So to overcome our thoughts, we must concentrate on our breath. Slowly the intensity of the thoughts decreases and we feel our breath to become shorter and shorter. Then we slowly lose the conscious feeling and go to a state of trance. Then we take in lots and lots of cosmic energy, which wash out the etheric patches. Etheric patches are the patches which are believed to cause the disorders. So we can have a healthier etheric body which would lead to a healthy body and a peaceful mind.

At higher levels of such meditation, we can have the enlightening experience of the 'Third Eye' and 'Astral body'. These could be achieved only through years and years of regular mediation. The meditation would give us a peaceful life. So I would suggest meditation to one and all.
