How to Make Personalized Goody Bags for Halloween

These Bags Are Also Good for Christmas, Valentine's, Birthday Parties, and Other Holidays

Bridget Ilene Delaney

A great way to make guests, especially children, feel welcome at any type of holiday party is to give them a goody bag filled with candy or some type of snack food. Personalizing the bag makes it even more welcoming. This may sound like a difficult task, but it is an easy thing to do.

You will need the following:

  • Wrapping paper with designs for that holiday
  • gift tags
OR
  • paper
  • a color printer
  • colored ink
  • Ruler
  • Scissors
  • Permanent thin tip marker (color of your choosing)
  • Zip-top bags (small or snack size)
  • Snack or candy to put in bags
  • Tape and/or a staple and staples

Instructions:

If you are using wrapping paper, measure the bags. Cut rectangles of wrapping paper that is two inches high and an inch wider than the top of the zip-top bag.

Fold the rectangles in half lengthwise.

Put a gift tag in the middle of one of the folded sides of the rectangles.

Write the name of a guest on the gift tag using the permanent marker.

Put the label over the top of the zip top bag so the folded part is touching the zip-top. Tape or staple the label in place.

If you are using a printer, find a free holiday design that can be printed on a whole piece of printer paper. Use a graphic program, make it so there are guidelines to cut the paper about every two inches (a tiny bit more is okay if you are trying to make even division for 8 1/2").

Using the graphic program, draw a white space for a label on the bottom of each section. If desired, draw a line to write the name of a guest.

Print the paper.

Cut the paper where the guidelines have been drawn.

Fold the rectangles in half lengthwise.

Write the name of a guest on the white portion.

Put the label over the top of the zip top bag so the folded part is touching the zip-top. Tape or staple the label in place.
