Making your own photo birth announcements isn't hard and can be quick and easy. These beautiful photo birth announcements can be exactly what you want them to be (after all, you created them), and they can include all of the details you wish to share with your loved ones.

It doesn't have to take a ton of time to come up with some great design, nor does it require that you are a computer genius. As long as you have a computer with a recent version of Microsoft Word (Windows 98 or more recent) then you can make your great photo birth announcements.

You Will Need:
You will need digital photos that you want to add to your photo birth announcements. These should be downloaded to your computer and saved for easy use. You will also need Microsoft Word or a publishing program. Finally you will need card stock and or photo paper. You can print all of it on photo paper or card stock. The one thing you should note is that the card stock can change the look of your picture if it is colored. I would recommend a light white, cream, ivory, of gray card stock if you are going to print your picture directly to it. You can also print out the picture, cut it out and glue it onto your card stock, but this will require more work for completing your photo birth announcements. Finally you will need envelopes for your finished photo birth announcements.

Step-by-Step Directions:
Open Word or another publishing program that you are familiar with. Adjust the size of your page to the size you wish your finished work to be. If you want a 4x6 or a 5x7 these are good sizes to work with and easy to find envelopes for. Once you have your Word page the size you want your finished product to be you will want to insert your pictures. To do this you can go to the insert tab, and scroll down till you get to insert picture. Next you will want to add your photo birth announcement text. This can include your baby's name, weight, height, and other important information. To do this you can use WordArt which will give you fancy options and play around with your text as well so that you can use fancy fonts.

Customization:
You can add additional customization to your photo birth announcements by adding graphics, multiple pictures, clipart, color, and changing your text up. Your text can run on top of your picture or be at the top, bottom, and sides of your picture. Have fun while making your own photo birth announcements. If this isn't your first baby you can add small baby pictures or other pictures of the other children and announce the growth of your family in the middle. Something like, "Welcoming the newest". Get creative and your photo birth announcements will be the talk of the town.

Printing Options:
Now that your photo birth announcement is complete you will need to print it off. You have several options. You can take your photo birth announcement in its saved format to a print shop and get it printed onto your paper. You can also print one out and then take it for copying which is sometimes less expensive then using your own printer, depending on your printer. You can also set your printer to print out the smaller size and print them all here. you will probably need to cut your paper to size. Another option is to increase your paper size back to normal and then multiply your design and place more then one on a page. You can then print them out and then cut them.

Whatever you decide you can have fun making your own photo birth announcement while saving a lot of money. The average cost of a photo birth announcement when having it designed and printed by a company is $1.50 or more. When doing it yourself you can save over $1 depending on your printer. If you are sending out a hundred photo birth announcements that is a significant savings. Enjoy making your own photo birth announcements and using them to share you joy with the world.
