Open the photo that you want to use. If you do not know how, go to the top of your window and click File > Browse. When the window comes up, locate the photo that you want to use and click the Load button. That will open your photo in your window. If you are opening a large photo, it may take a minute for it to load in your Photo Brush window.
Now I will show you the first way to turn your photo into an old photo. You should see the Actions Panel on the left side of your window. If you do not see your panel go to the top of your window and click View > Panels > Actions. That will bring your Actions Panel up. You will see different things in this panel. Double click on Old Colorize. The more that you double click Old Colorize the older your photo will look.
The second way that you can turn your photo into an old photo is by using the brushes. You have many different options when you use the brushes but it takes a little more time because you have to do it by hand. Click on your Effects Tab at the bottom of your window. If you do not see your effects tab, click View > Panels > Effects. In your Effects Tab you will see a row of icons. Click on the Old Photo icon. Use your mouse to brush over the photo. That will change it to an old photo. You can change the preferences by changing the options in the Brush Panel. You can select different size and shape brushes. You can drop the box down and change the lighting. You can do many things in the brush panel to change the look of the old photo.
The third way to change your photo is to click Filter > Stylize > Aged photo. When the box comes up, adjust the settings until you achieve what you want. Then click the Apply button to apply it to the photo.
The last way to turn your photo into an old photo is to use the sepia tone affect. Some people like to use this for an old photo and some don't. It's your choice. Go to the top of your Photo Brush window and click Adjust > Sepia. That will apply the sepia look to your photo.
Those are the different ways to turn your color photo into an old photo. This is a really neat program. If you have any problems with this Photo Brush Guide, please feel free to leave me a comment at the bottom of this page.
