How to Pick a Great Wedding Venue

Brooke Coin
Your wedding is one of the greatest days of your life, and can often turn out to be one of the most stressful. Trying to make sure everything goes off without a hitch has driven many a bride and groom to drink (literally) Picking the right wedding venue can be hard, there are so many choices. Here are a few pointers that might help an engaged couple figure out what will work best for them;

Stick to a Budget.
Most savvy couples will work out early on in the wedding planning stages how much they can realistically afford to spend. When looking at potential wedding venues, have a rough idea of the costs involved before you go there. If you find a "perfect" place that is over your budget, be prepared to cut costs elsewhere (dress, decorations etc.) if your heart is really set on holding your big day there.

Take Your Guests into Consideration.
Before you book your wedding venue, make sure it will be a good choice for every guest you intend to invite. If there will be a large number of children attending, make sure the venue is willing to accommodate their needs (some locations bar children altogether.) Also, consider the distance your guests will have to travel, and whether it would be reasonable to ask them to do so.

Understand what Will and Will Not Be Included in the Price.
Most wedding venues offer a range of different "packages" to engaged couples. Make sure you understand what the particular option you choose actually includes. Lower end packages often do not include room decoration, leaving that up to the bride and groom to figure out. Spend time talking to the venue's event planner to ensure that all the features and services you want the venue to provide, as opposed to outside vendors, are included in the final costs, to avoid unpleasant surprises on your big day.
