If you are planning a rather large affair, and nobody in your immediate circle has a home begin enough to comfortably hold everybody, you will have to find a bigger place. Renting a hall is an option, but it can be expensive. You have to consider your budget when you are making these plans. If you know that this party will be a relatively calm affair with no alcohol being served, you could rent a pavilion at a local park (unless of course the wedding is being held in January in Michigan.)
If the bride is a well liked person, you might be able to rent a section of a local restaurant or tavern and get a discount to boot. It never hurts to ask- you never know unless you try. If that is not an option, then ask for suggestions, perhaps asking innocently about a rival establishment's policy. You might get a very big surprise.
A friend of mine went to Windsor's casinos for her Bachelorette party; her and her friends all met in Detroit and drove over in several cars. They did not have to come up with a place for the party, food was taken care of and they all had a blast. They all had a set limit to gamble with so there was no panic the next day, and the best thing: no clean up afterward!
For the bride-to-be that is a secret diva, take over a karaoke bar and let her belt out all her torchy favorites all night long. Take turns choosing songs to dedicate to the bride and sing them from the heart. Have tee shirts made before hand and pass them out. Have everyone don their shirts for the final song of the night and sing like you have the lead in a Broadway production.
If the guest list is relatively small, rent a limo and drive around with the windows up, sipping champagne and telling risqu' stories while the driver worries about the road. Play all of the bride's favorite tunes, and relive some of your favorite moments as friends. Let everyone take turns telling "I knew the bride when" stories and award a prize to the story the bride chooses as the best.
My Bachelorette party will be even more simple- my best friend and I are going to drag hammocks out to the backyard and swing there, sipping girly-fruity drinks from pretty glasses and talking until we are lulled into blissful, slightly boozy sleep under the stars. She will not worry about inviting the wrong people or serving the wrong food, it will be just her and I- and that is alright with me.
