How to Make a Pie Crust Like Playing Play-Doh!

No Rolling Pin!

Barbie Crafts
Remember when you were a child, it was so much fun to play with Play-Doh. If you were like me and my friends, we would always play like we were working in a bakery! We would make pies and cookies, having so much fun. We pressed, patted, rolled, and produced the most wonderful "baked goods." We would make pies by pressing the Play-Doh into our little metal pans and serve it on our little doll dishes.

Somewhere along the way, making a pie crust became something akin to brain surgery or rocket science. I have recently rediscovered how much fun it can be to bake pies again. This method is basically the same technique as we used as children!

Ingredients:

Margarine: 1 stick plus 2 tablespoons

Water: 3/8 cup boiling water

Bisquick or other Baking Mix: 2 1/2 cups

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 400.

In a microwaveable bowl, melt 1 stick of margarine.

Measure Bisquick into bowl. Add melted margarine and stir, cutting the margarine into the Bisquick baking mix.

Add 3/8 cup of boiling water, working it in well.

Place bowl in the freezer for 10 minutes.

Oil an aluminum pie pan.

Remove the dough from the freezer, and line the pan with around half of the dough. Pretend you are a child again playing with Play-Doh. Just pat it out and press up the sides of the pan to form a crust.

Fill the crust with the apples or whatever filling you are using.

Roll snakes with the rest of the dough, criss-crossing to form a lattice-crust. Again, pretend you are a child again!

Dot with two tablespoons of margarine, sprinkle lightly with cinnamon and sugar if desired, and place into the oven.

Bake 10 minutes at 400, reduce heat to 350. Continue to bake until the pie is done.
