How to Pitch Your Own Reality TV Show
Make Sure Your Show is Original: Put yourself in the shoes of a network exec. Pretend that a competing network has a successful reality show, and you need to create a similar one for your network to steal some of the ratings. Are you going to a) buy a similar show from some random person, or b) develop the show yourself from scratch. I would choose the second answer. Believe it or not (considering how unoriginal most television is), networks are only interested in new ideas that haven't been done before. If a network wants to create a show that's already been done a million times, they'll do it on their own terms.
Consider How You Plan on Soliciting Your Show: You basically have two options; you can send your pitch directly to television producers, or you can find an agent or some sort of representation to pitch your show for you. I would NOT suggest sending your show directly to producers. Most people in the "biz" don't like to handle unsolicited materials. It gets them into all sorts of sticky legal territories. People are always claiming networks stole their idea, and in some cases may be telling the truth. I would recommend letting an agent pitch your show to the networks. You'll have a much better chance of someone actually seeing it this way.
Film the Whole Thing Yourself and Stick it on Youtube: Last but not least, if all else fails, there's always the internet. Maybe you weren't able to get an agent, or maybe you did find an agent but all the networks rejected your show. Whatever the case may be, you shouldn't give up yet. If you really believe your show will be a hit, you should prove it by posting it on the internet. If you put a couple episodes of your reality show on Youtube, and they pull in a few million views, I'm sure you will have major networks kicking down your door to make you an offer.

i know a ton of people here are saying their family would make a great reality television show, but i'm 100% sure my would. i don't even think you'd be able to put most of the stuff on tv because it would be considered 'illegal' and all that. it'd mostly be about me and my cousins because that's where all the drama is at, that and the adults.

all i have to say is my family is a HOT MESS n ratings to watch our show would be threw the roof cuz i no its someone who who can atleast relate to atleast one of my 9 crazy family members. its love hate fights cryin all of thee above.
Well to start off there is something different about my family. I'm the youngest of 3, my brothers 30 he doesn't live at home but him and his girlfriend come over all the time. He's already been married and divorced all that craziness... and then there's my sister... Traycee, which i like to call her the pyscho crazy one! She's pregnant and just found the last week in march that the baby's due on Sept. 11 2010(its the beginning of may. And then there's me I'm 20, I like nothing more than to find some way to piss of Traycee but that's not hard cause even before she was prego she was nuts omg her hormones are driving me crazy she's lucky shes knocked up so i cant hit her. But anywhome, She's gonna be living with us still once the baby's born... there is so much behind this story. And I think America will get a kick out of the TABAKA's also known as the Wacky Tabakys lol =]
We are a family of 5 our daughter is 10 and she shows livestock (sheep). We also help a single mom of 2 with her kids who show sheep as well. We travel as a family of 8 all over the country going to livestock shows. We are a rather comical group and people get confused as to what roll each of us play. Most people think that my girl friend is the wife and I am the ex-wife and the kids are all my husbands. We would make a great show!
hi im joeyy lee. my friends and i are discussing doing our reality tv show as 3 crazy gay men and a straight girl living life on the east coast (virginia) instead of the west coast (california) showing that the east can be as crazy as the west. 4 witty, comedic young adults along with the siblings, parents, and pets that come along with it. some surprise family pop ups, and a little drama on the wayy. i think it would make a great reality tv showw. we hope we can get it on the air. we are working hard to do it now.
