How to Make a Pizza Casserole

Malcolm Tatum
Fun and simple to make, this casserole is a hit with kids, and works great when teamed with a green salad and a little garlic toast.

Things You Need:

1 pound of lean ground beef
2 14-ounce jars of pizza sauce
3 cups of shredded cheese (a mozzarella and cheddar mix is great!)
1 cup chopped onions
1 cup chopped bell pepper
1 ½ cups of Bisquick
3 eggs
2 ½ cups of milk

Step 1

Crumble and brown the ground beef. Drain off any excess grease.

Step 2

Layer the ground beef into a 9x13 casserole dish.

Step 3

Top the ground beef with the onions and bell pepper. Follow with the pizza sauce, then the cheese.

Step 4

Make the topping. Combine Bisquick, milk, and eggs. Beat the mixture until it is smooth, and then pour over the top of the cheese.

Step 5

Bake the casserole at 400 degrees for a half-hour or so. Allow it to cool for about five minutes before serving, as this will help the sauce around the meat and other ingredients time to thicken slightly.

Tips and Warnings

If you want to add a little more to this recipe, toss in some sliced pepperoni on top of the ground beef, then proceed with other toppings.

For cheese lovers, it is okay to add a sprinkling of your grated cheese to the top once the casserole is baked, and stick it back in the oven for a couple minutes. You can also add french-fried onions to the top if you want a little extra crunch. Casserole recipes like this are very adaptable, so have some fun with it.
