How to Plan an Alligator Themed Birthday Party

Boys Birthday Party Idea

When my almost 3 year old son remarked that he wanted an alligator birthday party, I felt a little stumped. How was I going to come up with enough things to do an alligator theme for a boy's birthday party? After a little work and creativity it came together perfectly. Here is all you need to know to plan and throw an alligator themed boy's birthday party.

The Cake. There are a few options here for making an alligator cake for an alligator themed boy's birthday party. A company called Roshco (available through Amazon and other online retailers) has a silicone baking pan in the shape of an alligator. The option I chose was to create an alligator cupcake cake. There is a wonderful pattern for an alligator cupcake cake in the book, Hello Cupcake! which is more than likely available from your local library. An alligator cake is essential to creating an alligator themed birthday party.

The Decorations. Rather than spending a ton of money on mylar alligator balloons and other decorations, save money here by just choosing green colored items for the alligator themed birthday party. A green tablecloth, balloons in a various shades of green, and green streamers will work perfectly to help create an overall alligator birthday party theme.

Plates, Napkins, Etc. You can choose to extend the basic green theme for your alligator themed boy's birthday party into the plates and napkins, or you can make this part of the party really alligator-special. Online stores such as Oriental Trading have alligator cups, napkins, and plates. Choose just one or two items to add to your party to really highlight the alligator theme.

The Food. The rest of the food served at an alligator themed birthday party should reflect the alligator theme. Some ideas include green foods such as a green salad and a cold honeydew melon soup. An alligator cookie cutter can be used to cut shaped sandwiches (an alligator cookie cutter is available in this set from Wilton). Green candies can be purchased and placed in small bowls throughout the party area as well. Green gummies are especially alligator-like.

The Games. If you need some games for your alligator themed birthday party, try doing a traditional "pin the tail on the alligator." Alligator piƱatas are available and if you have an alligator cookie cutter, you can create alligator cut-outs for all sorts of games. A final game might be for each boy to give his best alligator sound effect and have older children or adults at the party vote for the winner. This part of an alligator themed birthday party will be tons of fun.

An alligator themed birthday party for boys is a fun and creative birthday party theme. Try these simple but creative ideas to throw the perfect alligator themed birthday party.

Very cute :) My three-year-old would have loved this theme. We went with a dinosaur theme, which was also a hit!
