How to Plan an Amazing Thanksgiving Day Dinner

The American harvest festival is famously called Thanksgiving Day. This holiday is commemorated during the month of November. This legal holiday is intended for family and friends to get-together and give thanks. Organizing for an amazing Thanksgiving dinner party should be carried out 4 to 5 weeks before the holiday. Attempting to plan your menu and festivities a week prior the holiday is considerably demanding and tiring. There are various tips to plan a remarkable Thanksgiving dinner party.

The initial preparation of your fabulous dinner party is to create a guest list. Count the exact number of visitors and allot at least extra 5 more guests in case they bring a companion.

The second plan for Thanksgiving is to choose the type of menu. Provide a breakdown of the cost of the main course, wine, side dishes, appetizers and desserts.

It's important to plan ahead before Thanksgiving Day. Double check the invitations and make a list for the categorization of people who are going to attend (i.e.; if anyone has food allergies or special needs). Take note of the people who are vegetarian to have the chance to include dishes that you know will be best suited to them. Do not forget to purchase a small disposable canister or a Ziploc plastic bag for the guests to take home some dishes home (Unless you prefer to keep left-over's for the next day - they can make a great dish the second time around and give you a rest after all of the hard work).

Plan to have general cleaning in the house 1 day before the party in order to be able to clear all of the cobwebs (remember, you want to have the appearance of having a Thanksgiving dinner - not Halloween!). Since you will have cleaning done prior to Thanksgiving day, there will be a time to check that all of the appliances are functioning well - especially your oven because you cannot afford 'not' to have that special turkey which will make your Thanksgiving party complete. There are three options on how to give an invitation to your friends which may be done through email, greeting card or phone call.

When you are already done with the guest list, the table arrangements should come next in line. Consider the kind of table setting that you would want to have. Make sure that your theme is well matched with the accessories you will be using for the Thanksgiving party. You may visit a grocery store or nearest shopping mall in order to purchase table napkins, paper plates (that can be optional - but could save you a lot of washing in the end) and cute plastic cups for the kids. You would be surprised at some of the attractive designs paper and plastic ware will offer in theme for the holiday.

Once your guests arrive, prior to dinner being served, ensure you have light snacks out so that everyone is comfortable and happy. Wine or other assorted drinks are also a nice touch. This will also help guarantee no one leaves hungry - when you provide light snacks prior to the meal individuals will generally pick at them while in conversation, thus, having the need to eat a smaller portion at dinner time to fill up.

And last - Have fun and relax! You deserve it! Enjoy good food, friends and family.
