From Wedding Dress to Reception

You have decided to get married but in today's economy many people are struggling just to hold down a house let alone plan and pay for a wedding. Your dreams can still be accomplished with a bit of belt tightening and the right mindset.

Reception Locations

Many churches offer their halls for a discounted price if you are married in the church. You will even find greater discounts if you are also a member of the church. If you're planning a wedding during nicer weather outside locations may offer highly discounted beautiful locations. Check with a national park, local parks, or that perfect farm location that has a beautiful setting.

Wedding Dresses

If you have decided against wearing your mothers dress there are still options open to you for obtaining the perfect dress at a discount price. Many wedding stores offer last year's designs highly discounted, you can shop the clearance and sales racks or you can obtain a used dress from a consignment shop or in your local classifieds.

Wedding Favors

Wedding favors do not have to be over the top. If you have an idea in mind it will be cheaper to purchase the items and make them yourself. Wedding favors can be as simple as Jordon almonds wrapped in taffeta with a ribbon with the date and bride and grooms names. If you're looking for something a bit more unique consider purchasing small boxes and filling them with chocolates. These chocolates can made easily using melt-able chocolate and chocolate forms.

Table Centerpieces

Flowers can be expensive and there is nothing ruling out the use of other items. If you want a soft light consider purchasing small fish bowl glass containers, layering the bottoms with a decorative stone and inserting a candle or two. If you are set on flowers you can obtain floral wreaths to sit around the bottom of your lighted bowls. If you are dead set on flowers go with flowers that are in season and considered local to save money.

Wedding Food

Wedding dinners do not need to be prepared by caterers. Enlist the help of family members and cook the wedding feast yourself. You can create your menu to fit your budget. Disposable buffet warmers can be used to keep the food warm and ready until serving time.
