When you are planning your next camping trip, you also want to plan for those unexpected emergencies that pop up. This includes planning for any sudden storms that pop up. Below you will find a few tips on how to be prepared for your next camping trip.
Downpours happen
Sudden downpours may not sound like an emergency to some, but it can quickly turn into one if you do not have your camping site prepared. Remember that when it suddenly starts raining hard you will want to make sure that you are not stuck inside of the tent with no way to prepare food for your family. You also don't want to suddenly find out that your tent is not as waterproof as the manufacture has said. This is where tarps come in handy. You can hang tarps over your tent, and connect it to a nearby tree to cover the entire area. As long as your tent is covered and the front area leading into your tent is dry it will be a lot easier when camping.
Check your first aid kit
You will also want to check and make sure that your first aid kit is fully up to date. While you are packing for your camping trip, check your first aid kit. Make sure that you have plenty of band aids and other items that you need. You can find plenty of camping first aid kit essentials online. Check these lists against what you have to ensure that you have everything you need.
Be aware of the weather
You will always want to be aware of what the weather is around the campground. Since many have cell phones now with the ability of using Apps, you may find one that gives you weather updates. If you have this type of cell phone be sure to download your own personal weather applications. This will alert you to any severe weather that may be in the area. If you don't have a phone with this feature be sure to have a radio, where you can get any weather alerts.
Know where the hospital is located
It is also important to make sure that you know exactly where your closet hospital is located. It is not always easy for an ambulance to find your campsite on large campgrounds. If something happens and you need to take someone to the emergency room you will know exactly where to go. This is especially important if you have young children.
