Step 2: Plan Where to Stay

When planning your family vacation you need to research all of your lodging options so that you can find the best deals. Klamath Falls has several lodging options available that are appropriate for families. Your first option is to go camping. Step 3: Plan a Day at the Lake

Lake adventures are a great option for families who enjoy playing in the water. If you have your own boat and water sport equipment then your costs will be minimal. All you will have to pay for is your gas, oil, park entrance fees and food. If you don't have your own boating equipment you can always rent a boat for a couple of hours or for a day. This is going to increase your day's expenditures, but the fun that you can have on a boat is worth the price. If your budget is tight then you can always use an inflatable raft to explore the lake. These rafts can be bought for between $20 and $100. The lakes that are located within 10 miles of Klamath Falls include: Borrow Reservoir, Flat Lake, Nut Reservoir, Rocky Hole Reservoir, Harris Reservoir, Hawks Lake and Hilltop Reservoir.

When planning your hiking trip make sure that you find a map of the trail system, that you understand what activities are permitted at these recreation areas, that you plan to bring the proper hiking clothing and equipment and that you pack water and sunscreen. If mountain biking is allowed on these trails then you may also want to make sure that your mountain bikes are ready for use, and that you have a secure way to haul them from your home to the trailhead.
