How to Plan a Creative Spiderman Birthday Party

Web-Slinging Birthday Party Fun

Sarah Caron
When you have a big fan of the web-slinging, high-jumping, super hero Spiderman, planning a Spidey-themed birthday party comes naturally. With a few good ideas and some ingenuity, you can create a memorable event for your guy or gal.

Invite the Guests to the Spiderman Birthday Party
Start by making a list of who will be invited to the Spiderman birthday party, so you know how many invitations you will need. Then, get creative with a recent issue of a Spiderman comic strip or book (available at some bookstores and comic book stores or online). For birthday party invitations, cut and paste parts of the comics onto cardstock cards. Use your computer to create and print the who, what and wheres of the birthday party in a neat and smallish rectangle (make sure it's large enough to read the print). Then cut out the info in a rectangle and paste on top of the Spiderman comics, using the comics as a background/border. Pages of the Spiderman comic book can also be pasted to 8 1/2 by 11 inch cardstock and stringed together to make a party sign. Use construction paper to cut out letters to spell a phrase like "Happy Birthday!" or "Party!"

Spiderman Birthday Party Foods
What's the perfect lunch to serve at a Spiderman birthday party? Well, Spiderman is a photographer by day and superhero by night--or whenever he needs to be. But he also is a former pizza delivery boy. So bring on the pizza pies or, better yet, bring on mini pizza crusts and let kids make their own by selecting their own toppings and adding it to their pizza.
Make a red Spidey punch for kids to sip and bring on the extra fun by freezing gummi bugs in ice cubes and tossing them in. After all, bugs are a spider's favorite food.
Many bakeries will make Spiderman-themed sheet cakes with a little advance notice. You can also purchase a Spiderman cake pan to make your own cake. Or, make a plain sheet cake and use small action figures to create a web-slinging scene on the Spiderman birthday party cake.

Spiderman Birthday Party Games
Fun games are the crux of a great kids party. These creative games will make your Spiderman birthday party one that kids will remember for years to come.

  • Web tag - Forget party games of tag that involve kids running and touching each other and declaring "You're it!" In web tag, arm whoever is IT with a can of silly string. Their mission is to snare one of the other players, Spiderman-style, with some silly string. Then the can is passed off and the new it person tries to capture their friends in the sticky web.
  • Musical webs - Use the Spiderman theme song to play this fun rendition of musical chairs. And instead of chairs, use cardboard cutouts of spider webs. You can find these in party stores near Halloween or just draw them on cardboard yourself.
  • Make-You-Own-Spiderman-Web-Tee - Pick up fabric paints and inexpensive t-shirts at your local craft store. Give birthday party goers a few ideas of how to draw their Spiderman webs and then set them to work. Let the t-shirts dry completely before sending them home (your child can hand them out next time he or she sees their friends).
