How to Plan a Halloween Office Party

Miss Marilyn
A Halloween Office party is a great way to get employees together to celebrate and have fun together. Planning a Halloween party for co-workers, does not have to be a horrifying task. You can start by thinking ahead and getting a theme ready for the party.

Themes

What's hot with Halloween themes this year? Get creative, forget about Witches and Warlocks. Pull a scene right out of Rihanna's new Disturbia video. The theme can be called Disturbia. If you are not into music videos then you can select a Day of the Dead theme or Seventies Theme. Remember, some themes may require more financial effort than others. So be sure to pick a theme that can fit everyone's budget. Finding the right costume for adults can be time consuming. Please let your guests know in advance what they will be expected to bring or wear.

Food is the next important item on our list. In keeping with Mexican Halloween traditions, have your guests bring a pot luck of Mexican dishes. Some ideas for Mexican food are tortillas, chips and salsa, grilled chicken taco salad and many more. How about desert? What's a Halloween party with mouth watering deserts? Who doesn't love pumpkin pie? Whatever your desert selection, make sure you give your guests a special treat that will have them going back to the desert bar. Be sure to find out if anyone has restrictions on their diet. Having a meal alternative ready for such a guest will show kind consideration for their needs. It should be up to your director/supervisor whether alcohol will be served or not. Most companies forbid the use of excessive/any alcohol during company events.

Music is very important to create the fearsome atmosphere. The introductory song can be 'Thriller' by Michael Jackson. Selections on iTunes for great play lists for Halloween can be easily found on your iTunes account. Let all your guests know that there will be a give-away for the 'Best Costume Design.' Get creative, give away something that will make people excited. You could prepare a wonderful gift basket or fancy gadget for the winner. People love to win and there's nothing like a costume competition to get them started.

Preparation is key. Make sure you start sending out your invitations now! This will help you to prepare a budget based on the number of attendees. You can cut some costs here too with accommodations for the party. Surf the web for party supplies and decorations before purchasing. Who knows? Last year's old inventory belong to you for a fraction of the cost if you buy early! Let all the folks at the party know that they can volunteer their time to the decorating and enhancing of the area. Getting their buy in early is important now. That way, you can be sure to remind them as the deadline begins to approach that they did volunteer their services.

An office party at Halloween time is a great time to get your co-workers ready to rumble. It's also important to reward people for the fine work that they have done throughout the year. Remember to have a theme, have food, have music and have fun! The party will surely be the hot topic at the water cooler the next day.
