Here is a list of steps to help you plan & prepare for that new tattoo.

Things to Consider:

Jobs: Your career or job is very important and should be taken in consideration when you get a new tattoo! Make sure that the tattoo will be placed in an appropriate place so that it does not interfere with your work. You should also worry about future Job's & Careers. You do not want to be singled out over a simple tattoo. Yes people do take these into consideration when hiring a person for a new job or career.

Life: Remember you will be judge on how you present yourself to people in life. Are you willing to take this chance? Maybe this really only count on what or where you have the tattoo's placed. Remember that you will be marked for the rest of your life & police & law enforcement agencies always use tattoo's to track gangs & certain people.

Family: What will your family think? Is the Tattoo appropriate for younger kids? Will it affect your family? Always take their advice on getting a tattoo or maybe even include them on ideas what to get so they will be more acceptable of what you get as a tattoo.

Friends: Listen & take advice from your friends when getting a tattoo. One thing I had to learn the hard way it took me getting a unique tattoo of a Super Man symbol with a letter G instead of a S. When my friends seen me they said " Oh my God why did you get a Super Girl Tattoo? " Yes very simple & stupid mistake that could have been avoided by taking my friends into consideration on my new tattoo.

Time: This actually does matter, when will you get your tattoo? Will you have to work? Will it affect your job duties? Is it winter? Will that effect or make it harder on my tattoo? Is there a heat wave that will cause it harder to take care of your tattoo? Take everything in consideration before getting that new tattoo. Late night tattoos may make it harder to sleep that night depending on where it is located.

Be Prepared:

Clean New Needles: This is something to defiantly ask them of course they are going to have clean needles but what kind of equipment did they use to sterilize them? Did you see them remove it from the plastic? Ask to see what they are using to keep things clean. Always best to be safe!

Good Tattoo Guns: I know everyone isn't going to be knowledgeable of these things but it is some thing to look into! I have seen Tattoo artist use low power supply's or bad guns which cause scaring and tearing of the skin! You do not want to be one of those people that it happens to.

Good Tattoo Ink: Is the Tattoo Ink name brand? If so ask them what they use or are going to use on your Tattoo & research it on the Internet it's best to know what is going into your skin & if it will last or be bright & colorful. Some Ink's give bad results in the end & can leave you with a tattoo that would have been way better with a different Ink brand.

The Artwork: This is something you do not want to settle for second best! This will be on your body tell you die so get it the way you want it and where you want it! You can usually have a Tattoo Artist draw you something up. Always make sure this is something that you can live with & not feel guilty about later on in life. At least give it a week or even month to think about what you are going to get on your body. There is always the feeling of getting a tattoo to quick & realizing that you should of got something else or shouldn't got it at all.

The Price: You get what you pay for in life & Tattoo's fall within that category. Never ask for a cheap tattoo this will not only disrespect the Tattoo Artist after all they are the one doing the Tattoo. If anything gives more money then what the Tattoo is actually worth it will make you feel better in the end. How bad would it be to remember your tattoo at only costing this much.

The Artist: Always ask for a Artist's work & portfolio. They should have a big list & have before & after results of cover-ups. Get to know the Tattoo Artist & become friends after all you have to trust the person who is giving you a Tattoo. If it's a large tattoo do multiple sessions so that the Artist does not get tired & make mistakes after all he is human. Ask questions such as how long have you been an Artist? Do you have any Diseases? I know that sounds rude but if he knows he does have some thing & does not disclose it he can be in serious trouble. Better safe than sorry right? If anything makes sure he wears a mask while giving the Tattoo. I know it sounds a little farfetched, but it's best to be safe than sorry.

Safety & Care: This is by far the most important thing & it requires you taken the necessary steps given to you by the Tattoo Artist. Most the time they will send you home with a release form & the correct steps. Make sure it stays covered for the correct amount of time & it stays out of sunshine also. The tattoo will eventually need fresh air & plenty of lotion to stay soft & tender. Follow the steps given by the Tattoo Artist & you should be just fine. If any question's be sure to ask him!
