How to Plan a Romantic Birthday Dinner for Your Husband

Make His Birthday Happy Through His Stomach

elle
Planning a romantic birthday meal for your husband is about making him happy plus it's okay to think of how gratefully he will reciprocate for you on your birthday.
Since, as they say, men are visual creatures, a feast for the eyes is the way to go. Answering these simple questions will help you narrow the field in planning his birthday meal.

1. Fancy or frugal?
Is he pleased with the simple fare of a buffet or with more of a fancy feast such as steak and lobster?Would a picnic tickle his fancy? Use what you have to work with as far as money and time and don't worry that it won't be good enough. Your thoughtfulness will please him no matter the cost.

2. Home cooked meal or sit down at the restaurant? Is there a certain meal you don't make often due to time constraints or to the complexity of the meal? Making time to do this would be a romantic way to show him your desire to make him happy when possible. He will understand the energy you've spent just for him. Maybe there is a certain restaurant he likes and you only go there on special occassions or maybe he would like to go to the usual place, and have what he usually has for dinner.
If he wouldn't be embarrassed by the attention, having the crew sing to him would be fun.My son had an American Idol contestant sing Happy Birthday to him beautifully at a restaurant. The waitresses asked this singing waiter to sing it solo and he was so talented we could not believe he didn't make it on the show. Even better would be you singing to him Marilyn Monroe style!

3. Do you like to write poetry?
Even if you don't it's possible to let him know using simple words how much you are glad he was born on this day and that you met and married. A handwritten card is an emotionally generous way to say, "I love you". Then there is the humor angle. If he has a good sense of humor and he is of a certain age, it may be worth a giggle to gently poke fun at him for getting closer to the top of the family tree.

4. Candles and flowers at the table, on the patio, or bright lights and a table in front of the TV?
It's his day and who he is and what he is like determines the plan and any plan can be prettied up with special clothes or a colorful tablecloth. His favorite music playing softly in the background. His favorite person in the foreground making sure his birthday is as happy as can be.

5. Cake and ice cream not his favorites?
They are traditional birthday favorites that come in any flavor he would like and alternative celebration food could include birthday pie or cheesecake. Even cookies and cupcakes are popular and fun foods for birthdays. Make and decorate them yourself letting the kids help or buy ready made to save time and nerves. Grocery stores have ready made and pre-decorated birthday cakes in all kinds of flavors, even fruit filled. They will personalize any cake you buy at no extra cost too. So, combining a home made meal and a store bought dessert could be the best of both worlds.

Finally, enjoy basking in the glow of his appreciation and then email him a list for planning a romantic birthday for his wife. Enjoy!
