Spring is in the air! Everywhere we look, the heavier fabrics and deeper colors of winter give way to lighter fabrics and hues, hinting at the new season to come. As people begin to prepare for spring, they search out ideas to brighten their homes, bringing the outdoors in and taking the time to refresh their decor. Additionally, spring is the perfect time to entertain, but many find it difficult to easily change their decor for the season without having to completely redecorate a room. One of the simplest ways is to create spring tablescapes on a few of the tables in your home. Whether you are looking for a beautiful table scape for a party or event, or just looking for some ideas to infuse a little bit of spring into your home, these ideas are unique, creative, and sure to inspire you! Factor in the degree of formality you are seeking and your current decorating style. Here are some ideas of things to use in your spring tablescapes:

-nests made of wire, grapevine, bent twigs, feathers, wire, or other material.
-birds made of mushroom, ceramic, glass, carved wood, metal, etc.
-interesting branches-for added interest these can even be spray painted in gold, silver, or pastels
-eggs made of ceramic, marble, glass, papermache painted, mosaic, beaded, wooden, etc.
-birdhouses of varying heights, colors, sizes, and styles
-candles and candlesticks of various heights
-glass vases or hurricanes filled with colored eggs, fresh flowers or greenery, or candles
-fresh spring flowers or greenery
-clay pots embellished with paint, faux techniques, decoupage, mosaic, mirrored, aged, gilded, etc.
-bunnies, which are not just for Easter, they can be papiermached, painted, stenciled, ceramic, mosaic, decoupaged, or beaded.
-baskets, which are a great way to display a collection, can be filled with everything from florals and plants to cookie bouquets or eggs
-straw hats on hat stands of varying heights, just make sure to remove them if need be for a conversational flow during dining
-garden statuary including figurines and gazing balls
-topiaries covered in moss, flower heads, beads, dried rose petals, etc.
-small to medium decorative boxes, such as hat boxes
-birdcages
-gardening tools (antique, sprayed pretty colors, or miniature)
-miniature cart or wheel barrow
-planters filled with faux grass and the occasional daisy, crocus or other small flower
-miniature picket fence to surround a display or as a lining for the exterior of boxes
-butterflies, dragonflies, or bees

Once you have decided on the items, or combination of items, to use in your tablescape, be sure to elevate your scape here and there for a random horizontal line. This provides visual interest to the eye. Elevations can be created above or below a runner, scarf or cloth and include items readily found such as upside down bowls, mini plaster columns, boxes, books, or blocks.

When you are finished creating your tablescape, if you would like to add some more interest and detail, you can use any of the following optional accompaniments:

-flower petals
-colorful glass marbles
-Easter grass in various colors to suit your scheme
-ribbon
-votives in spring shapes like tulips or bunnies
-chicks
-pussy-willows
-apple or cherry blossom branches
-pastel M&Ms or jelly beans
-faux carrots or cabbages
-seed packets
-watering can
-mini framed Spring pictures
-rabbit shaped tureen, pitcher or cookie jar
-seasonal platter
-rows of bud vases w/ single tulips or a small vase of tulips

With these simple ideas, you will be able to create a beautiful arrangement perfect for the season. Happy decorating!
