Magic Kingdom
The magic kingdom has entertainment, dining, shopping, rides and more. As you first walk into main street USA you will see old town style shops and a huge castle just up ahead. The magic kingdom features several different lands such as Adventure land, Frontier land, Liberty Square, Fantasy land, Mickey's Toon town and tomorrow land. You will even see lovable Disney characters on just about every corner. Over 17 million people visit the Magic Kingdom every year. Disney's Hollywood Studios and Disney's Animal Kingdom also receive well over 10 million visitors each year.
Epcot
Epcot is a theme park within the Disney World resort. Visiting Epcot is like taking a trip throughout the world in one day. Epcot has pavilions with live performers and restaurants that feature eleven different countries. Future world shows people what the future might look like by showcasing technological advancements. Over 10 million people visit Epcot each year.
If you want to see everything Disney World has to offer you will need to plan a 5 to 7 day trip. It will take all day just to visit one park depending on the lines. The magic kingdom is so large that you may even need to split this park up in 2 days if you really want to take your time and avoid rushing around. Most people spend about 5 hours in Epcot and anywhere from 4-8 hours in the Animal Kingdom, Water Parks, and Disney's Hollywood Studios.
Lines do tend to be longer for certain rides just because of popularity. The most popular children's rides are Peter Pans Flight and Dumbo. The most popular rides for adults are Splash Mountain, Soarin, Space Mountain, Expedition Everest, and The Twilight Zone. You can walk all throughout the parks, but if you want to save time and energy you can ride the trams all over the park. Stations are found throughout the entire park. In addition there is a train that is all around the magic kingdom.
When is the best time to visit?
If you want to avoid the large crowds, the best times of the year to visit are September and January. The weather is warm in September, about 85 degrees or higher. If you want slightly cooler weather then visit in October or November. Hurricane season is in the fall so you may experience more rain if you decide to visit during these months. The only major drawback in October is there are more special events so the lines can be a bit longer. Summer tends to be the busiest season and then it slows down in September, picks back up in October and then peaks again in March. The slowest times of the year are the fall and winter months except around the holidays. Just remember that if you plan to visit around any major fall or winter holiday such as Christmas there will be more people. With humidity it can be very hot in the summer, anywhere from 95 to 105 degrees on average. The weather is typically under 50 degrees in the fall and winter months, but if a storm comes in the weather can be even cooler. Spring is beautiful because the weather is usually between 75 and 85 degrees.
Tickets
Ticket prices vary because discounts and promotions are going on throughout the year. Generally you can get a Premium annual pass for $599 for kids 10 and older, and $528 for children 3 to 9 years old. Children 2 and under are always free. An annual pass is wonderful for families who live in the area and plan on visiting the parks often. Single day tickets for the magic Kingdom only are $25 per day for each person. Park hopper tickets for a single day are $75 per person. Water Park one day tickets are $45 dollars per person. (Prices are subject to change and discounts are available- See resources below)
Accommodations
There are a wide variety of hotels just right outside the park. The Disney World villas are very popular because they contain all the comforts of home. The wildness villas have a northwest woodsy type theme. You could also stay at the Beach Villas, or Animal Kingdom Villas. There is something for every budget from Disney campgrounds, to deluxe resort hotels. There are vans that take people to the park directly from the hotels or you could get a rental car.
Dining
Food is available all throughout the park. Disney dinner shows and dining events are often showcased throughout the park. Some of the most popular restaurants are The Rainforest Café, and Tucker House Restaurant. Food courts are also available in several locations inside the park.
Park Hours of Operation
The park is open year round 7 days per week. On most days the park opens up at 9:00 a.m. and closes at 9 p.m. However, extra magic hours are allotted on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays depending on the season. At times the park will open up an hour early and close at midnight. Park hours also fluctuate depending on parades and other planned events.
