How to Play a Boomer in Left 4 Dead

Kevin Choy
Left 4 Dead is one of the most popular videogame in the market today. In the game, there is a mode called the versus mode in which you can play as the infected and the survivors to test your abilities in surviving. The players take turn being the infected and the survivors, and the team with the higher score generally starts up the next round as survivor.

In the infected side, there are 4 types of infectious zombies that you may play as. They are the hunter, boomer, smoker, and the tank. One of the most useful infected and also the most important is the boomer. The boomer is the biggest common zombie that appears regularly and has 2 abilities. It has the main ability which is to vomit on people, and its secondary ability is to claw the survivors. The special thing about the vomit is that it attracts zombie hordes and blinds them at the same time. Another thing to notice about the boomer is that when it blows up near a survivor, it will also vomit them.

This can be very useful when you go against the survivors. First of all, the survivors are not able to see clearly when they are vomited. This means that if a smoker pulls or a hunter pounces, the survivors will not be able to get to them easily especially because they have a zombie horde running at them. Usually in versus, the boomer tends to be the first one to go attack with the rest of the team following in afterwards or the boomer may need bait sometimes. This means that distractions such as smoker pulling and hunters pouncing can be used in order for the boomer to be able to vomit them while they're distracted.

The boomer's vomit is also gravitationally affected. You should definitely keep this in mind when you're playing the boomer. This means that you can hide behind objects such as the car and be able to vomit over the object. Using this tactic you are able to not reveal yourself or put yourself in danger while still being able to successfully vomit on the survivors. Spawning is also significant when playing a boomer due to the fact that a loss of the boomer will result in a very poorly coordinated attack on the infected side, so the boomer wants to spawn well and be there for the team in order to win.
