Flip cup is the king of all drinking games and is far superior to its drinking game rival beer pong or beirut. I know that is a controversial thing to say but as any true flip cup aficionado will tell you flip cup rules!

What makes flip cup so great is its simplicity. In essence the game is a race to drink faster. Unlike many other drinking games whose goal is to make the other team drink, in flip cup your goal is to drink and drink fast.

The rules of flip cup are simple. Two teams square off facing each other on opposite ends of table. Each player gets a cup filled with beer. The game works as a drinking relay race. When the game starts the first member of each team chugs their beer. After drinking their beer the players place their cup on the edge of the table and try to flip the cup over so it is standing upside down on the table. Once the cup has been flipped over the next member on the team goes. This continues on until the team reaches the end of the line. The first team to drink all their beer and flip their cups over wins.

Now let's compare flip cup to beer pong (or beirut). In pong the goal is get a ping pong ball in your opponent's cup which forces him to drink beer. In pong having to drink beer is a penalty. In flip cup it is your goal!

When you play pong you hope your opponent misses your cup and that you don't have to drink. In flip cup you not only want to drink, you actually anxiously wait for your chance to do it. Part of the fun is yelling at your teammates to hurry up and drink so you can get your shot at drinking beer and flipping your cup.

Flip cup is also a more social and less exclusionary game then beer pong. Generally only 2 to 4 people can play beer pong at one time. People playing beer pong at parties or bars have been known to get caught up in the game and get exclude from the other going on of the evening. That is not the case with flip cup. Flip cup is the party.

Flip cup can be played with small or large groups of people. With flip cup the general rule is the more the merrier. Games with 20 or 30 players are just as much fun as games with 6 or 8. In addition no one really ever has to wait for their turn to play flip cup the way they do with beer pong. Flip cup games are short and extra players can always be added.
