How to Play Hard to Get

The Writer
Playing "hard to get" is one of the most complex things in a relationship. Most folks agree that this is necessary to land the best guys or gals, but few people completely understand it. In this article, I will discuss how to play hard to get.

In a simple phrase, you must remember to not make yourself seem like you are available. It is important that the other person thinks that there is work to be done in order to get with you. If you are going to call them, then make sure to do it with a couple of days in between. Always make those calls when you are doing something that makes you seem busy. Let them know that you have a lot going on. Even if you have nothing on your schedule, never let on that this is the case. The less available you seem, the better off you are. In addition, if it appears that you have carved a piece of time in your schedule for that other person, they will be unlikely to cancel on you at the last moment.

If you are a guy, do not call her very often. Never call her with the intention of just talking. If you think that she is interested in you, then make her do a little bit of work in order to get to you. You should call, however, in order to make some plans after the first or second date. Set up some sort of creative outing for the two of you to enjoy. Know that dinner and a movie is about as cliché as it gets. A memorable date can be anything that is fun and entertaining.

Make sure that you do not commit any added attention to that person. If he or she happens to be hanging out in your group, then act as you normally would. Talk to your friends, watch the game, and drink a beer. Make the person feel as if they might not be able to have you and they will want you that much more. Once something becomes a certainty, humans have a tendency to lose interest. Never allow this to happen to you. Think about the kinds of things and people that draw your interest. They are usually the folks or objects that you find to be a mystery. To be more accurate, they might be the things that you feel that you can not have. It is a difficult idea to master, but making yourself one of these unknown and un-held commodities can make you much more attractive.

The key to maintaining this "hard to get" characteristic is to keep on doing what you had been doing before. If you drop your life and all of your friends to be with that person, then you will become pathetic in their eyes. Nobody likes to feel like they are the only thing in your life. Go out with friends and even see some other girls for a while. Make sure that you remain a challenge for the girl or guy. If that person is interested in you, they will still come after you to some extent. If they do not happen to come after you in the way you'd like, they are probably not worth having anyway.

While you are doing all of this, be sure to stay somewhat sweet. You should have a good balance. Do not give the person all of the attention that they might want, but do a couple of little things to make them know that you are there. The occasional compliment will make them smile, but anything above is sure to be a turnoff.

  • Don't make yourself "too" available
  • Always remain a mystery
  • Don't give up on what you already do
People are much more attracted to what they think they can't have.

"you must remember to not make yourself seem like you are available."

Women usually play hard to get because of this reason. =)
