How to Play IDoser Files on an IPod or IPhone

Blair Mathis
IDoser, the digital binaural files that are becoming ever more popular, are available as proprietary DRG files (which stand for 'drug'), which can only be played on a computer with the iDoser application. IDoser does sell MP3 versions of their software, but if you've already purchased a file, why would you want to buy an MP3 version, too?

IDoser files can be played on an iPod, but first they have to be converted to an uncompressed WAV file. Though I don't recommend it, iDoser files can also be converted to an MP3 file, though they not work if converted incorrectly.

To put iDoser files on an iPod, first download a program called SBagen, which is the free program that iDoser is based on. Copy the DRG file you want to convert onto your desktop so that you can easily find it.

Open the iDoser program folder (Start > Computer > C: Drive > Program Files > iDoser) and copy the file called 'temp.xqp' to your Desktop. If you're using iDoser v4.5, the file may be in a different location. If you can't find it, type 'temp.xqp' in the search field in the Start menu, then press enter. Search will find the file.

Start up iDoser and run the DRG file you want to put on your iPod. Minimize the program so it's not in the way.

Right-click on the temp.xqp file and choose Open With > Notepad. There will be a bunch of gibberish. At the top of this file, enter "-SE" on a line by itself. For example:

- SE

Random code {blah blah} xxx0101

Save that Notepad file as "name.sbg".

Right-click on that SBG file (which you can now open with SBagen), and choose "Write to WAV" from the menu. The file will be saved to the Desktop as a WAV file, which can be played on an Apple iPod.
