How to Play a Protection Paladin

Kevin Choy
One of the best and most exciting spec to play as a paladin is the protection talent. It's very fun to level as a protection paladin, and it will allow the paladin to tank in groups and raids. As you know, tanks are the most demanding class in world of warcraft.

In leveling, protection paladins use something called AoE Grinding (Area of Effect Grinding). This means that they will gather 3-4 monster (sometimes even up to 8-10) and kill all of them at once one by one. They will things like consecration to damage all of them at once. They will use seal of blessing or wisdom to generate mana and recover health while fighting. With this technique, the paladin is able to kill several monsters at a time without the fear of dying. Don't forget to carry a good amount of water and food at all times. The repair bills will be quite a lot too.

Protection paladins are not very useful or effective in battlegrounds. The reason for this is that they can't provide dps for the team or healing for the team. The only situation they will help is being a flag carrier. The ability for them to absorb a lot of damage and survive will help in places such as Warsong Gulch.

One of the best tanking classes in the game are paladins. They have the ability to gain a lot of aggro quickly. This allows the paladin to not lose aggro on the monster it's focusing on. They can generate aggro at a very quick rate unlike warriors, but aren't able to sustain the aggro constantly that easily. Paladins are one of the most preferred class for tanking because of their ability to generate aggro.

For paladins, they need to stack up on stamina if they want to tank. They also need to carry around potions to help. They need to get gear that will provide them with dodge, defense, and etc. They should carry any one hand weapon that will benefit their stats because dps is not important. Their shield is an essential source of stat. Go become a protection paladin and you will gain respect.
