Eric Loveday
If you simply love to keep your vehicle looking great, than polishing and waxing is both a joy and a way of life. If nothing can compare to the fresh, shiny appearance of a recently-polished vehicle, then you probably spend countless hours laboring away as you hand polish, buff and finally wax your beloved vehicle. The time consuming process of detailing the exterior of your car can require a significant amount of elbow grease, sweat and hard work, but it doesn't have.

A recent addition to my car care stable is the Porter Cable 7424 random orbital polisher. This little hand machines makes the task of polishing and waxing your vehicle substantially easier. In addition, the results are far superior to anything that can be achieved by hand alone. The unit can be purchased from multiple online sites for around $100. An entire polishing system that consists of several polishing pads, various polishes, buffing cloths and much more can be had for around $200.

Now, before you grow concerned about damaging your paint by using a random orbital polisher, it should be noted that professionals use rotary polishers, which can damage your paint quite easily, while random orbital polishers are nearly foolproof.

If you purchased the Porter Cable 7424 random orbital polisher in kit form, then it's quite likely that the kit includes the necessary polishing pads, buffing towels and polishes. If not, then you will need to purchase the proper equipment for the job.

The basics of using a random orbital polisher are easy to learn and follow. Start with a medium cut pad and medium abrasive polish. Apply the polish to a small section of your vehicle and begin polishing. Set you polisher to medium speed and continue polishing until all defects have been removed. Follow with a fine cut pad and fine cut abrasive and repeat the process. Buff off residue between each step and inspect the results. When you have achieved the gloss that you desire, seal the paint with either a paint sealant or high-quality wax.

By utilizing the random orbital polisher you'll significantly reduce the amount of time spent trying to achieve great results. Furthermore, the paint will gleam like it never has before. Bets of all, the effort required to use the random orbital polisher is minimal and your arm, elbow and hand will be glad that the task of polishing your car has now been handed over to a high-powered machine.
