How to Pray the Chaplet of Conversion

Dina Staggs
The Chaplet of Conversion is prayed on the traditional Catholic Rosary.

How To:
Begin by making the Sign of The Cross.

The Sign of the Cross:
"In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen."

(To make the Sign of The Cross use your right hand, to touch your forehead at the mention of the Father; the lower middle of your chest at the mention of the Son; and the left shoulder on the word "Holy" and the right shoulder on the word "Spirit." This pattern forms a Cross.)

On the Crucifix/Cross pray The Apostles' Creed, after the Creed say a prayer for unbelievers.

The Apostles' Creed:
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and earth; I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day He rose again. He ascended into Heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of Saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

On the first bead pray, the "Our Father..." for the grace of conversion of the world.

The Our Father (The Lord's prayer):
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and for ever. Amen.

On the second bead pray one "Hail Mary"

The Hail Mary:
Hail Mary. full of grace, The Lord is with thee; Blessed are thou among women, And blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, Pray for us sinners, Now, and at the hour of our death. Amen.

On the third bead pray the "Hail, Holy Queen..."

The Hail Holy Queen:
Hail, holy Queen, Mother of mercy, our life, our sweetness and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve: to thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus, O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary! Pray for us of O Holy Mother of God, that we may be made worth of the promises of Christ. Amen.

On the medal, pray the following prayer,

"O Holy Mother, I join you at the foot of your Son's Cross to implore mercy and conversion for the souls of the world. With you, I offer the Wounds of your Son, Jesus, to the Father, in atonement for the sins of the world past, present and to come."

On each of the small beads where the Hail Mary is usually prayed, pray the following prayer

Through the Sorrowful, Bleeding, Immaculate Heart of Mary, and in union with the suffering of her Son, Jesus, on the Cross, I implore of the Father, the grace of the conversion for the world."

On each of the large beads were the Our Father is usually prayed, pray one "Hail Mary" in honor of Mary's Tears of Sorrow.

After the "Hail Mary" on each large bead, pray,

"Holy Mother Mary, Mediatrix of all graces, obtain for us from God,the conversion of the world.

Then pray the "Glory Be..." three times in honor of the Holy Trinity.

The Glory Be:
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Sprit. As it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be world with out end. Amen.

Complete the Chaplet by praying the "Hail Holy Queen" Once

The Hail Holy Queen:
Hail, holy Queen, Mother of mercy, our life, our sweetness and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve: to thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus, O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary! Pray for us of O Holy Mother of God, that we may be made worth of the promises of Christ. Amen.

The Sign of the Cross:
"In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen."
