This devotion is prayed on a Traditional Catholic Rosary of 5 decades.
Begin by making the Sign of The Cross.
The Sign of the Cross:
"In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen."
(To make the Sign of The Cross use your right hand, to touch your forehead at the mention of the Father; the lower middle of your chest at the mention of the Son; and the left shoulder on the word "Holy" and the right shoulder on the word "Spirit." This pattern forms a Cross.)
On the Crucifix, recite the 130th Psalm ("Out of the Depths.")
Out of the Depths: Psalm130 (Also known as "De Profundis"):
Out of the depths I call to you, Lord. O Lord, listen to my cry. Be attentive to the sound of my pleading. If you, Lord, note all our offenses, who then, O Lord, could stand? But with you is forgiveness, For which we revere you. I wait for the Lord, my soul awaits; I hope in his word. My soul waits for the Lord, more than watchmen wait for dawn, more than watchmen awaiting the dawn. Israel, hope in the Lord, for with the Lord there is mercy and generous redemption. It is he who redeems Israel from all their sins.
On each of the large beads pray the Our Father (also known as The Lord's Prayer)
The Our Father (The Lord's prayer):
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and for ever. Amen.
On each of the smaller beads were the Hail Mary is commonly prayed, pray the following invocation.
The O good Jesus Prayer:
"O good Jesus, have mercy on the soul in purgatory (mention name here) and grant to them eternal rest. Amen
