How To Be Pregnant with a Healthy Baby

Every mother desires first and foremost that their baby be born healthy. Healthy babies are created with healthy choices. A mother can make choices that will benefit her unborn baby and enhance his/her physical development of organs and immune system. Here are some areas to maintain health in a "mommy with baby on board."

Healthy thinking:

Daily make choices to think healthy thoughts. Healthy thoughts are positive, encouraging,and full of hope. Unhealthy thoughts result in depression, discouragement and a poor outlook on circumstances. In order to think healthy thoughts you will need to daily make right choices to hang around with happy people. And to watch positive TV shows (avoid horror films, sad movies, violence, stories of missing persons and murders). You will have to make healthy choices to think healthy thoughts concerning your pregnancy. You are not sick, you are pregnant. You are not disabled, you are pregnant. If you think of your situation as a blessing no matter the extra circumstances you will keep healthy thoughts buzzing through your body rather than thoughts of defeat, concern and fear.

Healthy eating:

Every pregnant woman has cravings. However, it is still a choice to choose healthy eating. Salads should be a part of your daily meals as well as fruits and vegetables. Your healthy eating habits will benefit the health of your unborn baby. Take your vitamins. Avoid candy, foods high in sugar. Avoid empty calories such as breads and sweets. If you have a craving pick a healthy food while satisfying that craving. For example, if you are craving a Popsicle choose an all natural Popsicle vs a sugar Popsicle colored with food dye. Keep a diary of what you eat daily as this will help you keep track of patterns that are beneficial and it will point out foods that need to be eliminated.

Healthy activity:

Choose to be active. Walking daily will keep your body toned and healthy and better prepared for delivery. Choose some form of healthy activity that you can continue throughout your pregnancy. Choose a safe place for this activity. Foe example if walking: avoid walking alone, avoid uneven sidewalks and roads. If you choose swimming do not swim alone. Always avoid slippery floors. Choose healthy activities and take the time to avoid dangers and safety hazards.

These are just a few areas of health that will help develop a healthy baby and mommy. There are many areas of your life that require healthy choices such as environment (work, home and play), and relationships with others. Daily determine to make healthy choices. Ask for assistance do not try to move heavy furniture or walk on ice. Be careful. Treat your body with the loving care that you and your baby both need and deserve.
