Here is a good approach to maintaining a budget this New Year.
*First,
Examine your attitude toward money. God can only fill your yearnings and he remains your true source of happiness. Matthew 6:24, "You cannot serve both God and money..."
*Next,
Examine your money situation, and ask yourself, certain key questions, like, "What will change in way of money this year, or with bills added or paid off?" Make a mental note or a written note of any accomplishments you wish and refer back to it, often.
*Take things one step at a time, find out the facts and what exactly needs to be included, and start from there.
*Commit yourself to the art of money managing. Constantly remind yourself of the extra cash you will have, or how much you will be saving this coming year.
*Most importantly,
Ask God, to create for you understanding, self discipline, and knowledge on how to be successful, and remember," If any one lacks wisdom, let him ask God." James 1:5
Preparing a budget, you need to remember to do several steps.
~Determine your income, give your best shot at it. If it changes at intervals, make note and allow changing, later on.
~Promise to give back to God. You will benefit spiritually and outwardly when you do. Give to God, so he can give to you, and know your intentions.
~Saving for retirement, and paying cash, not credit for things. These are very important, do not spend it if you do not have it.
~Allow for variable expenses, such as power, water, phone, etc.
~Being on a budget, does not mean you cannot spend a little and have a good time with family and friends. If at any time you feel deprived, take a little and enjoy it.
~ And lastly make records and record, save receipts and bills paid. Creat a filing system to help keep you organized.
Hopefully this will help you to be more cost effective and on the path to God's plan for your money.
