How to Prepare Dum Aloo or Indian Potato Curry

This dish is one of the most popular dishes in India due to its delectable taste. It is very easy to cook. This dish is not recommended for people who are suffering from stomach related problem because the dish is little bit spicy.

Ingredients required:

Medium size potato 6 pieces

Ginger paste one tablespoon

Garlic Paste one tablespoon

Finely chopped one large size onion

Tomato puree half cup

Finely chopped coriander leaf

Cooking oil two tablespoons

Salt two teaspoon

Red chili powder one teaspoon

Turmeric powder one teaspoon

Dry coriander powder one teaspoon

Cumin seeds one teaspoon

Method of cooking:

Boil potatoes. Remove skin from it. Cut each potato in four equal pieces. Heat cooking pan and pour cooking oil. Then add cumin seeds. When cumin seeds become black then add chopped onion. Stir it well.

When onion turns to brown in color then add ginger paste and garlic paste. Fry it for 3 minutes in moderate flame. Then add all dry spices like turmeric powder, chili powder , coriander powder and salt. Fry it well. When the mixture leaves oil then add tomato puree in it and cooked it for 7 minutes.

Now add potato pieces into it and mix it well with the mixture. Add a cup of water into it.

Cook it until it boils .When the curry start boiling add finely chopped coriander leaves and remove from flame.

Dum Aloo is ready to serve.
