Doing Your Part To Help America Get Up Again

PART 1

Throughout history we find out that there have been people that sacrificed themselves to make their followers' and children's lives better.
In my country, Romania, in order for communism that has ruled over people for 45 years, to come down, there were people who literally died.

I went to school in Timisoara, Romania, the city where everything started. The people were fed up woth communism and they risked their own lives to make their kids' lives better. Soldiers were shot at by the secret police. You can walk down today in this beautiful city of Timisoara and right there in the center you can see some of the walls having marks on them; these are markes left by the guns that were shot at people. It was a terrible sight. It was scary and in the same time it was liberating.

I was 13 I think when this happened. I still remember my dad and other people getting out of their yards on their street at shouting at one another, " Communism has fallen! Ceausescu is down!" Of course , I did not really understand then wtih my 14 year old brain why that was so important to adults, but today I do. There are things happening in this world that we have to sacrifice ourselves for in order for our children to have a better life; one of those things right now is the improvement of economy.

Yes, I believe that a lot of the prohecies in the Bible come true, but in the same time some prophecies God did not give to people in order to live through them, but so that we can change our ways. By changing our lives and mindset, we can change the way we live; we can stop prophecies from coming true.

We can change this economy.

One of the things that America has lost just over 2 generations is, community. People have been so focused on the TV and other forms of entertainment that we forgot how to communicate with our neighbors; we forgot how to build relationship with them by playing a goold old chess or cards with them; we have forgotten how to raise our children by setting them in front of the computer or a TV and letting these "high tech" equipements take our places. And then we wonder why our teenagers won;t talk to us! They don't because we never taught them how to communicate.

I am sure you are familiar with the tv series, " Little House On The Prairie". Every time I watch an episode I can see the friendhsip people had among themselves and how much they mattered to one another. The sense of community made them lend a helping hand without much hesitation.

So, what am I suggesting we do?

I believe the answer lies in turning to God first. Let us ask Him to forgive us from disobeying His principles and ending up in a lot of debt and then change. How? S

1. Stop incurring more debt. Imagine if all of us or even 50% would just stop borrowing and living on money we cannot pay back, what a change it will do to the economy. When we repent and follow God with all our hearts and start changing, God will start improving our situation miraculously. I really believe that. Hebrews 11:6 says that he who approaches God, has to believe that He will reward those who seek Him. He will.

2. Agriculture. I believe we need to start using our lands and our backyards. Those who have no land, try to get some or go a neighbor or family member you have and ask them if they have land and start next year by sowing and cultivating that land. You will have food and you can trade for other things during a bad economy. Remember the story of Joseph from the Bible? It is found in Genesis. Amazing story and what a wisdom Joseph had from God to do that for 7 years of famine. We do not know how long this will last, but we cannot just sit with out arms folded or do what we have been doing so far and expect a better outcome. It is insanity, right? It is insanity to do the same thing over and over and expect something different. This is serious. Just watch the news. One country after another is falling apart economically and collapsing. If America lead the world in other things, how about lead them iby example in the right direction? Or it will not be America the great,but America living on the streets. 3. Give to others. Yes, in some people's minds that sounds ridiculous during these times, but the truth is that the Kingdom of God operates by laws, too. And one of His laws says, "If you give , you will get back". In fact 2 Cor 9:8 and on says that God will give you back not just the increase of what you sowed, but even the seed, so that you can sow again; so that you can give again. If you want God's blessing, don;t get selfish. Gathering too much for yourself in fact will get you poor because the hand of the Lord will not be blessing you. I know there is a verse actually in Proverbs that says that.

It pains me to read comments of people talking aout shooting their fellow men if things get that bad. Listen, if we all pull together nad build relationships, we will make it. Stop thinking you would want your neighbor dead, because I doubt you would want everything for yourself and live alone on this planet. Life is not worth living if you have no one to share it with. It is true.There is no joy in just keeping everything to yourself. Americans live too isolated from other people. Get your hands dirty and love on people. God put us here to have relatiosnhips. We need one another. The TV and video games will not fill up your belly, but a neighbor just might. There is even a parable in the Bible where Jesus was talking about the unjust manager. In that story what strikes me lately over and over is that Jesus said, "Therefore.....build relationships(make friends) with your stuff....." (Luke 16:9). WOW! There is the key. If you give to others, they will gve to you when you are in trouble. Ecclesiastes 11:2 says to divide your bread to 7 or even 8 because you never know what trouble will come on Earth. See, God gave us practical ideas on how to make it, yet we ignore them and then look at what we reap. You know, it is God's way that we are going to prosper, or no way. If we follow God, we will succeed; and if we don't , well....you all know the answer.So, make friends. Don't be selfish in giving food, money, time, and even of yourself to others.
