How to Prepare Your Family for a Flight Delay

Mrs. Renee

If you are planning a vacation with the family and you plan on flying, then you need to be prepared for just about anything. If you are traveling with kids it is even more important to make sure that you are prepared for any types of delay especially a flight delay. Below are a few things that you can do in order to prepare yourself for a flight delay.

Bring along some hand held games

A few games can really keep your child busy if your plane is delayed. Some games can be downloaded directly to your cell phone. You will also want to make sure that you bring along some head phones as well. This way you will not have to worry about bothering those around you who are also frustrated and waiting for the next flight. A hand held game will enable your children to sit down quietly while you are waiting for another flight.

Pack a snack bag

Since you are allowed to carry on a bag, why not make one of them a snack bag. Bring along some healthy snacks that your children enjoy. Doing this will help to keep the kids happy during a short, or long flight delay. Bring a snack that is easy to manage, and will enable your child to sit quietly and enjoy it. If you have more than one child, than you may want to pack multiple snack bags. Having each child's favorite snack will help to keep them happy while you are waiting for your next flight.

Know the area

It makes sense to know the best hotels in the area, when you are booking your flight. This way if you are delayed overnight you will have a place for you and the kids to sleep. As soon as you see a delay, you can contact the hotels on your list and book your room. Be sure to read the reviews on the hotels in the area so that you know what type of place you will be staying in.

Use the internet

If you have a laptop or internet access on your phone than put it to good use. The airlines website is where you will probably learn quickly about any flight delays. As soon as you see the delays you can work on booking another flight or making different arrangements. Wasting no time to do this will help to ensure that you and your children are not left sitting in the airport for an entire day in some situations.
