How Prepared Are We?

The more I see the more I wish I had not seen. The events in Japan have that familiar feeling still remembered from 10 years ago when tragedy visited.

New Zealand, the UK and social unrest, Egypt and now Libya in turmoil, Iraq and Afghanistan still taking lives, massive oil spill in the gulf, Tsunami's...

So much has happened and it's all catastrophic on many levels. The world is changing just not in the way we envisioned it would. Japan by the photographic images available so far on MSN and all other news affiliated Internet websites illustrate a grim picture of the devastation and chance of survival in Japan. One woman in a report stated that she ,"wasn't sure if surviving was necessarily a blessing."

The world's third richest economy on the planet is faced with issues no amount of money can fix. The devastation is so wide spread it is almost incomprehensible to image what the people of Japan are going through. Before and after images found at the UK website The Telegraph give a clear demonstration of the impact.

If you look at the planet metaphorically saying it is the mother earth than could she not take this latest nuclear plant situation as just another threat against her person by mankind? We have to start thinking more about responsibility and accountability. Not simply toward mankind, but toward the planet, the environment, the oceans, the earth itself and quit tapping it out. Alternatives are as simple as EverReady (as well as many others) battery technology and the sun. The waters seem to do well with our electricity, the trees do well to build our houses, and the sun would do well to get us around. We have to buy the car, plate it, license it, license ourselves, property tax, so why not make the fuel free.

People out of jobs? Well that is the sacrifice toward bettering our planet earth which takes a group of dedicated individuals focused upon the crucial goals at hand. The point is that this nuclear situation is potentially going to pan out informing us that nuclear power/energy is an extremely dangerous undertaking that can effect generations with catastrophic results. The assumptions that low risk are normally associated with this form of energy production are shallow to me. The unknown and hidden chaos is always present when dealing with any known. Nitro glycerin may not go off as a transport truck rolls along, then on the other hand...

I think we grossly underestimate the effects of our tampering with nature, and the impact of what our day to day living does to the Earth beneath our feet. Poltical turmoil is yet another branch of the human chaos.
