How to Prevent the Airline from Losing Your Luggage Baggage
My Experience with Continental Airlines and Jet Blue
If you have ever watched a news program that offered any news about traveling then chances are they probably discussed problems with the airline and how often luggage is lost during travel. Before I started to travel I remembered seeing these programs several times so I knew it was a problem. I needed to bring luggage so I took the approach that I could not avoid this if it was going to happen. The airline then lost my luggage twice during the holiday season. However, since then I have traveled many times and I have found some simple methods which has kept my luggage from getting lost and will help keep your safe:
Choose a bag that not many people have. This means that you should buy a bag with a unique design. Someone who has a monogram luggage set will never get their things lost because others will not mistake them for their own luggage. You should choose a luggage piece that is very bright which would help you identify it when it comes off the line.
You should add something to your bag, which will help you pick it out when it arrives at your destination. It is difficult to pick out your bag when all of the other travelers are picking out their bags and you do not want to pick out the wrong one. You can do this by purchasing luggage tags at Wal-mart, which you attach externally. You can also put tape on the outside of your bag so that you automatically know which bag is yours when you see it. If you have a bag, which stands out, then it is less likely to be misplaced during travel.
Whenever possible you should only take a carry-on bag which you can bring along on the flight. This means that if your trip is short you should not pack too much. If you keep your bag with you then it can't be lost.
You should get to the airport as early as you can when you are traveling with bags because they are loaded onto the line in the order in which you arrive. If you are first then your bags will come off the line first and will not be misplaced by the airline.
