Every one likes a clean house and surely tidy windows but the reason that birds fly into the windows is that they see the reflections in your windows and they don't understand the concept of these glass windows. However, dirty windows should be better for the safety of the birds; you won't probably like this because tidy windows are important for the hygiene and give a better impression of yourself by other people. Most people will choose other options like putting a screen for the window or smearing soapy products on your windows to prevent the birds from flying into the windows.
You can buy a shade cloth in a garden shop where you can create a scarecrow effect on the window. This will send the birds in another direction.
A good solution is also a window alert; this is a kind of ultraviolet light which birds can see in the windows and warn them for flying into the windows. Human people can't see this reflects of the ultraviolet lights and you can consider it as red lights for birds.
Curtains can help to protect the birds for flying into windows. If you lower them a little bit they don't see any reflection and they will choose surely another direction. Stickers of birds can be very useful to protect them. It depends of the kind of glass where you best put them. In case of transparent glass it is best that you place the objects on the inside; in case of dark glass or reflected glass the outside will protect them better.
Creating a barrier can help those birds too. It is useful to move the plants which they can see from outside out of view otherwise they are likely to do efforts to reach these plants. When you hang bird feeders on your window they will reduce their speed for searching some food and keep these feeders not to close to the windows.
If you want to help these birds for preventing injuries or even deaths take than the necessary actions and it will also save you a lot of trouble like broken windows or damage on your windows.
Be a good friend for the birds and save their life!

Post a CommentExcellent tips....especially about not placing plants near your windows. I hadn't thought of that, how they might see the plant as something to land on. Very informative and well written!!!
Great advice! I'm sure the birds really appreciate it!
It always breaks my heart to find a bird on the ground outside a window. Of course, now that we have a cat, this seems to happen less often.
