Avoid pausing video games and leaving the Plasma HDTV set turned on in this state for an extended period of time. Leaving your video game paused while taking a nap will drain your screen. If you pause your video game turn off the screen while you are out.
Avoid using music players found on BLU-RAY players, DVD players and video game consoles without visualization. Most of these types of players have a visualization mode to add some image and fun to your listening. These modes have random color patterns and movement that will help prevent the burn in effect that appears when a bright still image sits for a lot of time in your Plasma set.
Avoid leaving your television set alone for hours while it is powered. Some of us like to leave the television on when we are doing other things especially when we are alone in the house. Turn on your radio instead or another television set that you may have around the house to avoid consuming your HDTV's lifespan fast.
Extremely bright settings can also be life draining for your Plasma high definition television set. Sometimes this is set up this way in an attempt to get a better picture in environments were there is too much light. Try closing windows or installing a light dimmer instead of a switch in your Tv room. Plasma Tvs look their best in darker environments.
Watch for the channel logo when watching regular programing. Some channels have a still logo as a way to expose their brand but may have options allowing you to remove it from the screen while others automatically get removed when watching the channel's HD version.
Do not leave your set on displaying menus from BLU-RAY and DVDs for extended periods of time as these still images increase the chances of burn in.
Finally, let it rest. Leave your set rest when it is in use for extended periods of time. This way you help your screen cool down and avoid shortening its lifespan. As with all electronic products they have a life expectancy but if you force it too much you can shorten it without even knowing.
