More recently, I got them because ever since I got pregnant, I only wore rubber slippers. So if you are always wearing these really comfy flip flops, chances are, you will get cracked feet, especially on the heels. So if possible, try to avoid them. Or at least, try not to wear them everyday. They are not healthy for the feet.
Second, do make it a habit to use a pumice even only every other day during your bath in order to scrub the dry skin off your feet. Then afterwards, apply a good lotion. Let the lotion dry first before wearing your socks or shoes or slippers. That should moisturize your feet and keep them from cracking.
But if you already have cracked feet now, do soak them in warm water with baking soda, at least once a week. Twice would be the maximum. If you have a foot spa machine at home, it is so much the better because the machine will make suds and will massage your feet. Through this, the calluses will be softened and even your feet will come out whiter. Then after soaking for a few minutes, ideally 15 minutes, do scrub your feet with pumice and apply a good quality foot lotion. But do maintain applying lotion every time you wash your feet.
If the cracking is really severe, use the baking soda process and use petroleum jelly instead of lotion. At night, after putting on lotion or petroleum jelly, wear socks (if you can stand it, because I can't in this hot weather that we have!). That should keep the moisture on during the night and let the skin on your feet heal while you are resting. Remember that our skin cells are being renewed when we sleep, so doing this will just hasten the process of healing your feet.
These are some of the homemade remedies that I know about cracked feet. Hope these will help you friends!
