The way you dress will depend on the type of company you'll be interviewing with. If you're applying for a corporate job, a suit and tie are appropriate. A suit and tie can also work for a creative company, but more casual clothes might work too. This goes back to learning as much about the company as possible, which can give you an idea about the way you need to dress for a particular interview.
It's also important to know exactly the position you are applying for. As far as the company is concerned you're interviewing for a position, not just a job. You'll be satisfying a need within the company and need to express the idea that you're the right person to do this. You need to know exactly what's expected of you.
It's a bad idea to stay out late the night before an interview. Make sure you are well rested because if you're not it will show. In order to be properly prepared for an interview you need to have gotten enough sleep the night before because if you haven't had enough rest it will show in your appearance.
This may seem obvious, but you also need to know how to get to the interview. After making certain they prepare for the interview by researching the company and dressing properly many people overlook getting directions about how to get the company. The day before the interview it might be a good idea to take a practice drive there so you'll know the parking situation and exactly where the building is. This way you can avoid being late for the interview because you'll know how far the parking lot is from the building.
You need to let the interviewer know what your strengths are and how they will benefit the company. You must set yourself apart from the other applicants.
Before you go to the interview have several intelligent questions you want to ask, so that at the end of the interview when the interviewer asks you if you have any questions, you don't sit there with a blank look on your face and say anything. Interviewers expect you to have questions. The questions should show that you've researched the company and are interested in the position you're applying for.
Being yourself will impress the interviewer more than anything else. If you don't agree with everything the interviewer says, than say so, politely. Listen closely to what's being said. Don't be too critical of yourself, instead pay attention to what is being said by the interviewer.
