Avoid Being Alone
Go to spring break or a party with a large group of friends. Don't go anywhere by yourself and take someone with you when you go to the bathroom. You are a lot less likely to be raped if you are with three or four friends at all times.
Limit Your Drinking
Set a limit on how much alcohol you and your friends drink. Getting too drunk is an easy way to make yourself vulnerable to predators. Also, don't set your drink down at any time. It is very possible that someone could slip something in your drink that will harm you or lead to you being harmed.
Have A Responsible Friend
Have a friend that doesn't drink so they can keep an eye on anyone that might get a little bit too tipsy. While you are drunk, your judgement is off and you might not be able to make responsible decisions by yourself. The responsible friend will be able to help you make the right decisions and could possibly prevent you from being raped or harmed.
Buy Your Own Drinks
Although it's a nice gesture for someone to buy you a drink, it wouldn't be hard for them to buy a drink, put in a date rape drug, give it you, and and say that they bought it for you. Then, you are unconscious and have no idea what kind of harm that person might do to you. If you buy your own drinks, it is a lot safer.
Use Your Brain
Ninety-nine percent of the time, common sense will prevent a dangerous or harmful situation from happening. Use your brain and make sensible decisions before you get yourself trapped in a corner. If something doesn't feel or seem right, just don't do it.
Carry Pepper Spray or Mace
Keep pepper spray or mace in your purse to assist you if something dangerous occurs. Have it ready and learn how to use it beforehand so you will be ready to defend yourself at all times.
Have the Local Police Number in your Phone
Put the number on speed dial so you can call the local police whenever necessary. Of course, if you don't know the number, call 911 and an ambulance or the police will assist you as soon as possible.
