Homemade crafts are so fun to do and also receive as gifts, during the winter season a popular favorite is the snowman craft. Here you will materials and directions to 3 variations on a primitive snowman pin.
These snowman crafts were made by me through trial and error so nothing in the pattern is precise and that is what makes the primitive snowman even more special, homemade crafts should not be perfect but instead the imperfections are what makes it so special.
Materials:
Felt: red, green, black and white
Tiny buttons: red, blue, green
Thread: orange, red, green, blue and black
Pin
Scissors
Directions:
Homemade crafts should come from inside the heart and mind so any ways that you can think of to make the primitive snowman pin look more festive or more to your style, please make changes as you see fit.
Cut the felt base of the pin measuring approximately 2 ½ "x 3 ½ " and on the back of the base sewn a pin securely on. Depending on what color is used for the base, cut a different color for the inside felt base which measures approximately 2 " x 3 ", please see the photographs for a reference. Next, cut the primitive snowman out of white felt, the snowman measures approximately 1 ½ " tall, sewn on buttons in whatever color you choose, sewn on a scarf using a thin strip of felt, stitch a carrot nose using the orange thread, stitch eyes using the black thread and sew on a hat using the black felt or whatever color you choose. Next, sew the primitive snowman onto the smaller felt base (2" x 3"). Sew the smaller felt base to the larger felt base. On the entire snowman craft I used simple blanket stitches, you could do whatever stitching you are most comfortable with. Once the sewing is complete, look at the snowman pin to make sure edges are even and see if any trimming needs to be done to make it even all the way around.
Learning how to make a snowman pin is so easy and making homemade crafts really is a lot of fun. This snowman craft was one of my favorites to come up with and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
