You can learn how to make princess crowns from recycled cardboard with kids. Kids of all ages want to feel like a prince or princess at one time or another; so why not make a crown with your kids. This article will provide in depth instructions on a creating princess crowns from recycled cardboard and old magazines.

You can make a beautiful princess crown using recycled cardboard, a pencil, paint, tape, a paintbrush, glue, an old magazine, and scissors. First you will need to find a piece of cardboard long enough to fit around your kid's head. Then measure and cut the cardboard to the right length; make sure to leave an extra inch were you will secure the crown into a circle. You will also want to eave at least four inches in height across the entire length of recycled cardboard.

Then measure about halfway up the height of the cardboard and mark this point with the pencil. Determine the center of the long piece of cardboard and mark it with the pencil. Create a point using the pencil and add some U shaped points to the front of the crown as a pattern. The front of your crown can have 5 or 3 points depending on what your kids like.

Draw a line from the first point you measure to meet the pattern you created on the front of the crown. Do the same on the other side. This will create an outline of the base of the crown and the front pattern of the crown. Cut along these lines. This will leave you with a 2 inch high crown in the sides and back and a personally drawn pointed crown in the front.

Help kids paint the entire crown whatever color they like. You may want to place newspaper under the crown while kids paint it. Allow it to dry. While the paint dries help kids look through the magazine for sparkly or brightly colored images. Help kids cut circles and diamonds out of the paper and glue it to the crown like gems. Add glitter or foil as well if you like to make this crown more sparkly.

When the entire crown has dried help kids fit it on their heads and use the tape to secure it in place. You can make many different crowns using recycled materials; this cardboard crown is easy and fun for kids and it uses recycled cardboard and paper.
