How to Print Electronic Coupons Using Any Browser

Fix a "Broken" Link to a Bricks E-Coupon URL so it Prints with Any Browser

Nikki
I am a huge fan of saving money by using manufacturer coupons. Using coupons has become a lot more popular in the current economic slump. More and more companies are starting to offer electronic printable money saving coupons on their websites. There are also websites dedicated to nothing but link after link to these printable coupons. One such website is the "bricks" site. But the "bricks" site can be tricky and frustrating sometimes depending on which web browser you're using.

Have you ever come across a link for a printable electronic manufacturer coupon on the "bricks" coupon website but the coupon wouldn't print? I know I have and it was very frustrating until I figured out why it was happening. It appears the code in the URL is browser specific. There are two letters in a bricks URL that determine which browser the link will work with. If you click a coupon link and try to print it using Internet Explorer but the URL is coded for Firefox, then the page will not load and the coupon will not print.

But the problem can be fixed by manipulating the HTML code embedded in the URL. Here's how to make a link to a "brick.coupons.com" coupon print with any browser.

STEP ONE
Look at the HTML code

This URL
http://bricks.coupons.com/Start.asp?tqnm=qidlelq81463626&bt=vi&o=58542&ci=1&c=GM&p=cPprsOnQ
is a link for a printable coupon using the Internet Explorer browser. See the vi in the code? That means the link is meant to be opened with Internet Explorer. Note, sometimes the vi is a wi.

This URL
http://bricks.coupons.com/Start.asp?tqnm=qidlelq81463626&bt=vg&o=58542&ci=1&c=GM&p=cPprsOnQ
is a link for the same product coupon using Firebox browser. See the vg in the code? That means the link is meant to be opened with Firefox. Note, sometimes the vg is a wg.

This URL
http://bricks.coupons.com/Start.asp?tqnm=qidlelq81463626&bt=xs&o=58542&ci=1&c=GM&p=cPprsOnQ
is a link for the very same product using Safari browser on a Mac. See the xs in the code? That means the link is meant to be opened with Safari.

STEP TWO
Change the two letters that are specific to your browser.

If you click a link and the page doesn't load or the coupon doesn't print, look at the HTML code to make sure it's coded for your browser. If it's not, simply take your mouse and click on the URL and arrow over to the place with the incorrect two letters and change them to the correct ones.

If you are not comfortable doing this, then click on the link to highlight it, copy and paste the entire thing into a Word or notepad, make the changes, and then copy and paste the entire corrected link into the address bar of your browser and hit enter on your keyboard.

STEP THREE
Now all you have to do it print your coupon and enjoy the savings! NOTE: you can sometimes hit the back button on your browser and print the coupon multiple times, although there is usually a print limit of 2 or 3 times.

NOTE: The above URL examples may not be active coupon offers at the time you are reading this article but the general instructions are applicable to any bricks.coupons.com link.

I was shopping in Kohls, and some nice woman handed me a downloaded coupon for five dollars. Hmm-was it the coupon fairy?

Very nice help! I had this problem where the coupons I wanted would only print the advertisement and not the coupons. Haha A little frustrating considering all the color ink. ^_^
