How to Make Your Private World of Warcraft Server Public (sharable)

Jerry
If you've read my previous article on how to create your own private World of Warcraft server, you might be interested in learning how to make your private server public, or at least to the point where you can play with close friends in your own private server.

Well, you've come to the right place. In this article, I'm going to teach you how to use Hamachi (sorry if you don't prefer this program) to make your server public, or at least sharable with friends through a network on hamachi.

It's actually quite simple. Download Hamachi. Hamachi is a program that allows you to share a common IP address with anyone who connects to the same network as you. You create a network, then you are given an IP address and others can join the network according to network ID and password. This service works great for creating private gaming networks and many other things. You can find the Hamachi download here: http://hamachi.en.softonic.com/

After downloading Hamachi, install it and create a network. Call it whatever you like, and give it whatever password you prefer, just make sure that it's something that both you and the friends who will connect can remember.

From here, open the ArcEmu folder (Sorry if you're using something else, I work best with the ArcEmu server type), and open the configs folder. Open realms, and change the very last IP address, under "realm 1" to your personal Hamachi IP address. This allows anyone who connects to your hamachi network permission to join into that realm.

Somehow, this is all you need to edit. Leave all other IP addresses as 127.0.0.1 or whatever default option is already there. Do NOT pay attention to videos on youtube, simply follow the two-step process I've given you, as I ensure you it works.

Now, all you need to do is give your friends the password and ID you created for your hamachi network, and tell them to set their realmlist file to this "Set Realmlist (your personal hamachi ID, NOT theirs)" so like this. set realmlist 123.123.123.1 It's quite easy to logon from there, just make them an account in the account creator and let them login and play!

Please note that Hamachi will probably cause some significant connection decrease in speed. There are other ways to host WoW servers, and the best way is definitely to either buy or rent out a server for other users to connect to. However this is expensive and not always required. This way is for small groups of players looking to have fun.

One way to increase performance on the server is to open the task manager on the host computer, and set the priority of "world.exe" to real-time, giving it significantly increased importance to the computer. Good luck and have fun!
